It's enjoyable, the only two negatives I can think of really, it's rather easy, altho that's not necessarily anything to rank down, however the controls for the surface assault mission at the death star is buggy. You can't go backwords, and if you hold the fire key instead of using auto fire, you can't turn left, only right, while going forward (just too clarify, that is the space bar, right and up arrow keys pressed at once, but you can't do that with the left key instead of the right key) messed me up because I'd be holding down fire, see on item too my left, try to turn only to go straight, I would have to either stop moving forward, or stop firing to turn left. Otherwise, this is a fairly fun fan game. A note on luciara's voice actor. You did a good job, but there was little emotion in it, was a bit monotone, that's all.

teejay-number13 responds:

Yeah I know about the space bar/ left arrow key bug. I haven't been able to figure out why it's doing that , but you can use the auto fire. And your not supposed to be able to fly backwards in that stage. And for Luciara's voice actor, its not easy doing accents and I think she did a great job.

I can't quite stop playing this, however I think I broke the game. I'm on day 25+ (losing track) and I'm holding just fine because at one point, there are so many little guys that spawn, but only so much at a time, the big ones can't even spawn before it's day time and they are forced to retreat. I won't give away my strat for that, but it's effectively made the game difficult to lose, infact I literally used the king as a wall while I had builders building a wall I had so many coins. You may want to look into fixing that.

The idea sounds incredibly fun and it is, too an extent, there are some flaws that need to be addressed.
Repitious: The enemies don't change, other then elites (which are borderline OP) and at a certain point you only need to let you ships do the work because enemies don't change.
Income: based on the amount of enemies, and elites give the same as normal? that makes upgrading more difficult later on when prices jump.
Once set, can't move: From what I see, once a ship is placed, that's it. It's good that if destroyed they come back next level, but allow us too readjust them.
Elites: Yes they get their own spot on here. good god they feel OP, killing you within a single volley, and as mentioned, they don't give anymore then the regular units? (Hint: focus them down as soon as they appear, leave the grunts to the fleet, so far rocket launcher seems best)
Range: You didn't explain it, but the area of view should be pre set, not how far the cursur is from your character, as your aiming. Most people will hold the trigger which locks the screen and not know why their vision is so limited. On that note, to get max range you have to move the cursor too one of the far corners of the game screen.

This game is fun, and a pretty strong start, if your thinking about building upon this, which I highly suggest, then I would make a few suggestions:
A story (why your fighting) would be nice, as well as your alley ships being able to move around freely like you can. More diversity in enemies other then grunts and elites (ship types as well, admittedly it's aesthetic, but it does make a large difference). The flagship having it's own defensive weapons (seriously, if it's like a troop transport, sure, a flagship without defensive weapons? logic?) and possibly different locations.

Tips: For those playing, advice.

As mentioned to maximise your range you have to put the cursor at the far corner WITHOUT firing your gun, as holding the left mouse button locks the zoom where it is.

Get the rocket launcher for Elites, when they start appearing, they are you primary focus, your fleet can handle the grunts.

Focus mainly on fleet as they are the ones that get the brunt of the force so you can deal with the elites

Elites only show up one at a time, but there is NO delay between them. When one is down, get too the next one ASAP or it will F your shit up.

it's back! a sequal as demanded by the fans. Let's see what was added vs the old game

1: there is now an enemy vs shooting notes flying across the screen, gives a focus on who too defeat
2: many new and more 'randomised' patterns vs the original that CANNOT be exploited and requires concentration (EX: pattern one of the first game, you sit against a wall at a specific point, you'll take very few hits, or sit in the middle and aim back and forth whenever you spot a rogue note, here, it's not that simple at all)
3: THERE IS A HIT BOX, SOUND THE CHORUS!
4: multiple game modes too get the experience fresh and replayable
5: There is a training mode, nice touch for those (like myself) who are not that good at bullet hells

and of course, you can still upload your own music, however there is one thing, altho it's a nit-pic... the char seemed cuter in the other game *shrugs* I dunno I just like cute characters, also wasn't it ment too be a band? I think that was brought up, be cool too have unlockable characters actually for beating a boss rush on a specific song (EX: beat a bass heavy song for the basist, a drum heavy song for the drummer, and a lyric focused song for a singer)

The only other thing is, I miss the bomb, altho I can see why it was removed, and there should be a 'focus' command (I know it's music based so you have too be careful with slow down, but it would be cool too have the option of making your song do the matrix XD probably make some awesome laughs too)

It has improved alot over the first, there is still room for even more, keep working on improving this game, there can be greater still

You are back to play my game again! I'm so happy to read and reply your review. XD XD XD
Thank you so much!

- Yes, this is what I want too, not really exactly but still similar. xD There are still many other characters but I'm not having any chance yet to put them in game as well as their stories. Maybe you won't like what I gonna say but from the start, I was about to make them (include the girl in this game) as some kind of war machines, not magical cute innocent girl, so not only a band but a army. But I think it is so much for me, not like I don't have enough skill but time and my bad English... :[

- xD I also think it can be much better, especially when It come to desktop game. I was planning to make a desktop version, so I can use maximum effects, better sync, much better graphic, won't have to worry about game size as well as game frame rate. Really hard for me to make it come true but thank for your words, I have more motive. I was quite depressed but then thank you again that I'm feeling better. xD

Here's a game too challenge your determination. Will you give up on the challenge? or will you push onto too the end.

aprox 200 deaths later... and I keep pushing forward till the end. Good game, my only one complaint is that... the hit box for the spikes seems really, REALLY picky

It feels like it can be good, but... black and white, flashing enemy projectiles, against an outer space back drop... horrible idea, you can never see them in swarms, making hard mode way too hard for anything, change the colors!

FylypFimpossible responds:

If there is any way to see how it looks in your computer.. I tried this game on about 5 different computers and don't have problems with see enemies. :( Maybe i have bad color settings huh

This reminds me too much of belugerin, started great, but they lost focus and released lower and lower quality games until finally they were just ignored outright. This is showing similar signs, it's not in any means a 'bad game' but it definitely lacks polish and innovation. Don't focus on pumping out games like a company, focus on making them with quality, as people will remember a few massive hits vs a ton of bairly passable games.

I agree with HanzoKarasu, altho there are other possibilities, maybe you could have a small squad of robots or minions too follow you? maybe customise them for players (thugs, zombies, robots, aliens, mutants, etc) and unlockable weapons would be a huge plus, as well as bonus stats and abilities, a karma mechanic be cool, maybe missions too that directly effect karma, for example, mugging people or rescuing them, where as part hunting would fall between neutral depending on what you do, attack a scientist? a military base? civilians? Would you become the worlds scientist saviour or destroyer? be kind of awesome

It's a decent shmup with the bonus of your own song list, has it be done before? yes, but this is a little more original, but at the same time not as varied, however being able too play too your own tracks is fun, as well as the speed of it (X6!? you can bairly see the notes go by!) The only flaw I really have... what is the hit box!? the guitar or the girl? that's my only grief about it and why i'm not giving it a full 5 star. also with only three patterns that repeat, it can be pretty easy for shmup fans, more patterns be fun, and probably have the option too set patterns at random (such as say, start with A, then jump too C, then A, then B, A, C, B, C, and so on, altho more variety be a good idea) If you could somehow upload more patterns in the future with a hitbox indication? I'd change my rate too 5/5, for now it's pretty good, can be improved

Nonako responds:

Thank you so much sir!

Seem that we will meet again with Beat Chaser 2. Not only more patterns, more play modes but also more playable characters, that what I'm planning.

*sight* If only I found a sponsor might this game was had a girl band with 4 members in it, not only one solo guitar. :<

Beat the game before giving my 5 cents. As a whole, it's an average game, if compaired too consoles. The controls are a little stale, but workable. The difficulty is good, altho an options for continue/difficulty be nice (ex: easy mode 200 HP 5lives a level, medium 100HP 3 lives a level, Hard 50 hp 1 life, just for an example)
While being able too aim in four directions is good, certain enemies almost require a diagonal shoot function, those bomber birds specifically. While it's not 'required' it would be useful (but it's a step above megaman so props there)
Graphics are pretty good, and THANK YOU for not resorting too a heroine with lots of cleavage, got enough of those, otherwise it was pretty good, as stated had a 'gunstar hero' feel too it, even the sound effects are from the game from time too time. Power ups are all there, flame, rocket, machine, spread, health, but try having it random for enemies instead of fixed placement (altho the fixed placement before the final boss was a nice touch)
Music was classic 8-bit, not bad, but not really memorable. I got down too the pace of it, but as soon as the song ended, I forgot it, kinda like a radio song.
For this too be a stand alone game, I would like too see maybe a 5th, possibly 6th stage, altho having 2-4 mid bosses for each level was fun, made the levels feel long, but not 'too' long. My only complints indeed would be this: fine tune the controls as jumping is slippery, music is ok, but can be improved, and add gameplay options, and if this does become a stand alone game, a second player would be great. If I could spare some cash (as it is X-mas) I would, maybe Ill get a larger paycheck, maybe not, but you definitely have my thumbs up for a well made game.
